Biological Anthropology at the University of Florida
Students can work toward both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. Students can specialize in virtually any area of biological anthropology because of our large faculty with diverse interests in the subfield. Opportunities exist for graduate study in the areas of forensics, genetics, primatology, paleoanthropology, functional anatomy, human biology and medical anthropology. An expanding graduate curriculum offers classes in these areas as well as advanced coursework in laboratory techniques and research design. Students can also take advantage of numerous fieldwork opportunities during their graduate careers. Our faculty's research is international in scope, with projects in Bosnia, China, Malaysia, Mongolia, Panama, Russia and Suriname.
Due to the large numbers of applications received for graduate study in biological anthropology, it is highly recommended that prospective graduate students contact a faculty member in their area of interest before submitting an application for graduate admission. Information on departmental procedures and application materials can be found at the Graduate Program and Application Information page.
